The exhibition will showcase paintings that address interspecies relationships, mainly those given in the domestic environment between women and animals. The paintings have carved frames that were specifically designed for each one. The artist integrates two-dimensional and three-dimensional elements by extending the painting beyond itself, framing it with a hand-painted and carved wooden frame. Víctor Hugo's work references authors or historical trends in visual art, such as Van Gogh, Matisse, Picasso, Beckmann, Dubuffet, but also Mexican artists like the muralist José Clemente Orozco and the painter Rufino Tamayo. In his work, it is possible to appreciate his interest in the mythification of animals by representing the conjunction of the beastly and the domestic, and by drawing associations with some mythologies from the Greek world.

In the series of sculptural pieces presented at Frieze LA, the artist uses the main artisanal techniques of Tonalá, such as burnished clay, whose origin dates back to pre-Hispanic times. But he also uses techniques such as the one used to mold betus clay, a pottery branch dating back to the colonial era that has been most popular in the area of Santa Cruz de las Huertas. This technique has allowed the artist to take advantage of the dynamism of colors and the shine of the resin.
