Sale on 21 November to Feature Rare Works by Iconic 20th and 21st Century Photographers, Including Richard Avedon, Ikkō Narahara, and Hiroshi Sugimoto, Alongside ULTIMATE ELLEN VON UNWERTH

LONDON – 7 NOVEMBER 2024 – Phillips is pleased to present highlights from the London Photographs auction on 21 November. The sale is led by an exceptionally rare lifetime print of Diane Arbus’ Identical twins, Roselle, N.J., 1967. The print comes to auction from the private collection of celebrated Japanese photographer Ikkō Narahara. The 20th edition of ULTIMATE spotlights Japanese and Chinese photography of the 1960s and 1970s, led by Ikkō Narahara’s most celebrated work Two Garbage Cans, Indian Village, New Mexico, 1972. Further highlights from important private collections include seminal works by Richard Avedon, Irving Penn, Robert Mapplethorpe, and Peter Beard. The sale will feature ULTIMATE ELLEN VON UNWERTH and contemporary highlights include works by Hiroshi Sugimoto, Gregory Crewdson, and David LaChapelle, among others. The catalogue for the auction is now online with works on view in Phillips’ London galleries from 16 to 21 November.
